Hope for the IDPS!!!

Please help us raise £150, 000 to start our proposed project and to continue our work with the IDPS in the North East of Nigeria. There are over 2 million people in Nigeria that have been forced to flee their homes and communities to live in temporary camps. According to reports, there are over 600, 000 children and orphans in that displaced population.

These has resulted from the immoral activities of the militia group called “Boko Haram”. Unfortunately this groups’ activities began in 2009 and these has led to widespread chaos in the North of Nigeria. Alarmingly, since they began their activities, they have killed close to 100, 000 people.

The President has invested enormously to rid the country of these group, however, Boko Haram remains active and deadly. According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), between January and August 2016, more than 2,000 fatalities occurred as a result of Boko Haram-related activities.

The Good Samaritan Foundation was forced to come into existence when the founder visited some of the camps in 2014. Since then, the founder has achieved an amazing progress by investing her personal funds and time to visit this camps yearly.

IDP Camp in Gurku, Nasarawa.

Just over 3,000 IDPS live in this camp. A man called Marcu Gamasche initiated this camp to accommodate the displaced population. Due to neglect unfortunately, the camp is miserable with children (most of whom are orphans), young adults and widows. These are the most hit by the terrible and harsh environments, plagued with malnutrition, illness and lack of basic amenities.

Since visiting the camp in 2015, TGSF decided to call it home. The charity has visited the camp on numerous occasions to provide them with basic humanitarian and psychosocial needs but we now feel oblige to act as their voices as we continue to witness the deteriorating condition of life in the camp. We have now decided to make a better community for them by coming up with the project called – Hope and Community Support for the IDPS #hacs4idps.

Your help is needed now more than ever now. We need your assistance and support to implement and make this project a success
