Thad's spine surgery & cancer fight

Donation protected
Thad is not only one of the kindest most understanding people ever this man is one of the strongest men I know. He became a paraplegic and confined to a wheelchair 18 years ago. Since then he has done the very best he could to be as independent as he could. However life has thrown our little family a high and warp speed curve ball and as much as we hate to admit it we are in need of help. As Thad was shaving one day about 2 months ago he felt a lump under his jaw. Thank God he thought "maybe I should get this checked out." When he went to the Dr. he was told it was probably just an infected lymph node. Dr. Said it was not likely it was anything serious given his age the fact he's never smoked and considering that it was found by accident the odds were it was nothing.
Well it WAS NOT NOTHING.... IT IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING. It is CANCER stage 4 metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue that has already metastasized to the right and left lymph nodes. We were not expecting to hear this and are completely caught off guard and totally thrown for a loop. As if this information wasn't hard enough to process.
While he was going through the diagnostic process he had a lot of Xrays and scans done. Unfortunately one of the earliest scans showed an ENORMOUS problem with his spine. As I mentioned he is in a wheelchair, and because of his paraplegia he has 2 metal rods with screws and plates that are attached to his spine. Well apparently one of the rods snapped and is floating around in his abdomen. The rod has apparently done some significant nerve damage and he is in serious danger of perforation of the intestines, bowels, or other organs. If that were to happen it would mean sepsis and very ikely death.
With the major surgery and the cancer he is going to need a whole lot of medical care. His back surgery can't be performed locally we have had to go to the University of Miami to get the surgeons and medical care he needs. Thank God the cancer fight will be done locally. It is going to be a long hard fight the oncology Dr. has warned us that the treatment for this type of cancer is MISERABLE. Side effects ranging from everything he eats tasting like saw dust, extreme swelling, blistering and burning of the skin on both inside and outside of his throat, inability to swallow, nausea, hair loss and quite a few others.
We are already being buried in expenses co-pays for doctors, diagnostic testing and treatments, prescriptions, surgery costs, travel to Miami, not to mention fear of what will happen now when our family looses his income. I never ask for help for myself but I have to ask for any and all the help I can get for my hubby and our 16 year old daughter . I can't loose my hubby and our daughter can't loose her dad. His mother can't loose her only child. Please help me to keep my family together and fighting to get his spine corrected and to KICK CANCERS ASS!
