Fundraiser for Thandi Nyamukuvha by WellMama CIC

At WellMama CIC, we offered one full scholarship in this year's cohort of our 13 Moons signature course to the wonderful Nyamukuvha Thandi MaHadebei! Thandi is a Storyteller, an Indigenous birth attendant, a youth development activist, a practitioner & promoter of Indigenous knowledge systems, & homeschooling mother of four. She recently moved back to her ancestral village & home of her grandmother: Venda, South Africa, to set up The Indigenous Venda Reproductive Health & Birthing Centre & an ECD & Cultural Art Centre/Village Library.

Thandi has a registered nonprofit called Nyamukuvha Ngwaniwapo that promotes, preserves, & educates around Indigenous agriculture, family life, early childhood development, literacy, mother tongue, pregnancy/birth/breastfeeding, & reproductive health. She wants to continue to nurture the growth of this organisation alongside a business of growing herbs, making plant medicines, providing childcare, & organising storytelling circles around her hearthfire in the garden of their home.

With this fundraiser, we are raising money to support Thandi by covering her travel & wifi costs to attend our monthly calls & complete course activities in between calls. These funds will also enable her to purchase a laptop & camera in order to access the course materials & monthly calls, as well as provide a foundation for her to offer her knowledge & social enterprises online. Funds will go toward the incredible face-to-face projects Thandi is coordinating in her community through her nonprofit, Nyamukuvha Ngwaniwapo. This foundation was started in the legacy of her grandmother, in whose arms Thandi has been nurtured & received the transmissions & initiations of her cultural heritage. WellMama CIC will also receive a percentage towards our bursary fund, which allows us to offer low/no-cost spaces on our courses.
