In Memory Of Thanh-Tuyen Thi Nguyen

Domestic violence has risen 20% (15 million more cases) as a result of COVID-19. Among the number of victims was our beloved Sister Thanh-Tuyen Thi Nguyen. On Wednesday, June 3rd she was murdered by her boyfriend who was recently released from prison - serving time for beating her on a prior occasion. She attempted to rekindle their relationship upon his release, but didn’t realize it would cost her her life. She was found dead in his home soon after. Thanh-Tuyen was only 28 years old. She was the baby of the family- the youngest of 8 children. She had a bright future ahead, having been crowned 2019’s Miss Vietnam NorCal & Sacramento and attending UC Davis. She was a community leader and a devout Buddhist. Most importantly, she was a unconditional friend, aunt, sister, and daughter. Her friends will tell you she was vibrant, compassionate, selfless, and loving. Her family will vouch for her strong work ethics, drive and loyalty. Thanh-Tuyen’s parents, Nguyen Thi Thanh-Nga and Nguyen Van Hung, and her siblings are extremely devastated with this new reality. This has left a deep void in many people’s hearts and all are fighting hard to stay strong in her honor. As you’d expect, her family will be facing financial challenges to cover all expenses associated with her loss. We ask that you please consider helping out her family through this difficult time as they navigate this tragedy and struggle to move forward in life without her.
