Thank you to Newtown's Smiling Kat

Kathy Holick has become a staple to the community of Newtown. She has been a beacon of hope and positivity throughout the most trying times in this town. Whether at work or about the town, her infectious laugh, energy and positive attitude leaves a smile on the face of everyone she encounters.
It is with great sadness I found out that Kat our Smiling Traffic Agent will be leaving her position. I can not think of a better way to say thank you to her for all of her dedication and positivity, than to provide her with a token of thanks that will assist her through a transition to her next life adventure.
It is said best through a poem written by Kat herself. Love, hope, and kindness are needed and are a choice. Thank you Kat, for always choosing to share your smile with us and for giving us hope.
Sometimes we find ourselves in a dark place,
Looking out into space.
What happened to get us here?
How will I feel good, is our fear.
We look out wanting to fly,
As we dig deeper with every try.
To not give up and truly live,
This is what our soul shall give.
Always keep that love in your heart,
And eventually the darkness will part.
So try to laugh and bring some light,
In due time your spirit will take flight.
A glimmer of hope is what we need,
Just a little belief is what we will seed.
Just give your brain a little relief,
And Live, Love, Laugh and above all BELIEVE!
