Join Tim's Fight for Fair Wages and Respect

My name is Tim and I’m a wheelchair agent at the Charlotte Airport. I was one of the hundreds of people that walked off the job to strike over poverty wages and respect for our rights.

I’ve been living in a storage unit because I can’t afford to find an apartment in Charlotte on what I earn—$12.50 an hour.

I got kicked out after going public with my story. I took that risk because it’s bigger than me. I’m not the only one who works at the airport that won’t have a home on Thanksgiving.

There are some people sleeping at the airport or in their cars. But I know many of them are too scared to say anything or they have pride and don’t want others to know they don’t have a home.

My story is their story. So I thought I’ll be the voice and I’ll be the face. I’ll speak up. I don’t want to ask for help, I’d appreciate any help.

There are millions of people traveling this holiday season and they’re spending billions of dollars. We, the workers who make this possible, should be earning enough so that we can have a roof over our heads.

And my message to my fellow airport workers is—We’re not going to down. Don’t have fear. We’re all going to come up together.
