The 12 care homes at Christmas

Welcome to my go fund me page in aid of dementia UK, my name is Preston Bird. I’m 14 years old and I am a singer located in Derbyshire. I have recently confirmed 12 charity singing events at 12 separate care homes within my local area. I will be performing 12 Christmas songs at each care homes to raise money for dementia UK. Now you may be wondering about my reasoning as to why I want to do this. Well, this isn’t my first time singing at care homes. I initially sang at Ashgate Hospice back in 2021 where I raised over £1000, then a year on in 2022 I set out with the same mission to raise money in aid of dementia UK on behalf of my grandma who was unfortunately in a care home at the time and was suffering from Dementia. Every three minutes, someone in the UK develops dementia - it's one of the biggest health challenges of our time. Families affected are often left feeling exhausted and overwhelmed and don’t know where to turn. But with the support of an Admiral Nurse and Dementia UK, families facing the fear and confusion of dementia know they’re not alone. This event was originally planned for the Christmas of 2022, but unfortunately it had to be cancelled at short notice due to Covid restrictions within the care home. Then unfortunately early on in 2023, we lost my grandma and I wasn’t able to sing those songs for her. So now I have decided to share the joy of my singing with as many care home residents as possible over a 12 day period hence my title: 12 songs, 12 care homes, 12 days of Christmas. Please help me to raise my target and help support dementia UK, in my grandmas memory and in the memory of all those who are suffering with this illness.
