The 222 - Hobart to Cairns for Mental Health
Hi, my name’s Lachie Spark, and I’m about to embark on the challenge of a lifetime - I’m going to run from Hobart to Cairns to raise money for mental health charities - and I need your help.
I’ve battled chronic depression and anxiety for as long as I can remember - the only thing I’ve found that makes me feel strong is to run - so that’s what I’m going to do.
I plan to run a half marathon every day for 222 days - covering the approximately 4700km in around 7 and a half months. A run of this distance over this many consecutive days has never been attempted before, so it’s fair to say we’re in unchartered territory.
My ambitious fundraising goal of $1,000,000 reflects the enormity of the challenge - with all money raised (after costs) distributed among mental health charities.
I’ve been told for years that this challenge is too hard and too far, and that I’m being too ambitious (or too crazy), but I’m ready to prove that absolutely anything is possible with the right mindset. I’m training hard and can't wait to take my first steps of this epic adventure on September 17, 2021.
I’d be eternally grateful for any support you can offer to help make this adventure a success - both for me, and for those dealing with mental health challenges.
Keep running!
Much love, Sparky
