In 2020 the long standing 92nd Bomb Group Memorial Association disbanded after decades of service honoring the brave heroes who flew and fought in the name of freedom from Bovingdon, Alconbury and Podington, United Kingdom. Since then, a group of dedicated volunteers consisting of veteran's family members in the US and local historians in the UK have been working hard to preserve the legacy and memory of Fame's Favored Few. We have a huge digital archive which we use to assist families of veterans visiting their old bases in the UK, we represent the group at Madingley American Cemetery at the annual Memorial Day commemorations and we work hard each day to tell the stories of the heroes and keep the memory alive.

During the summer of 2024, we started working with landowners at the former AAF Station 109, Podington to work towards opening a small museum and display to tell the stories of the very young men that went through unimaginable hell, and preserve their legacy forever. As part of this display, we have been able to secure, in agreement with IWM Duxford, the return of The Big Picture wall mural to it's home at Podington. To carry out this work, we need to raise funds to work with specialist teams to safely remove, transport, secure and display this large piece of local history, purchase and build display cabinets for the museum and help to maintain the memorial site.

This wall art is one of the largest and best preserved examples from all of the Eighth Air Force base in the UK, it's a key part of Eighth Air Force history and is so important to preserve the legacy of all the brave crews that flew from bases in England.

We have dedicated so much of our own time and resources to this project, but now it's over to you to help be a part of preserving this incredible legacy and honouring the heroes that gave it all. Each member of the 92nd had a story to tell and it is our mission to tell as many as we can and pay tribute to them all. We will never let them be forgotten.
