The Absalom Project
Donation protected
Hi, I am Dave Lenahan. Last summer I discovered an long forgotton antebellum cementry. It was totally grown over and forgotten. In the fall, I noticed a stone obelisk peeking through the growth. I cut my way back to where Absalom Gleaves was buried almost 190 years ago. His wife was there beside him. As I cleared the property, I discovered the graves of 34 more forgotten souls burried there. Well, I fell down the rabbit hole and had to find all I could about Absalom and his family.
Turns out he was a family man, farmer, and magistrate in this area. He fought with Creels Militia and with Col. Jackson in the war of 1812.
I feel called to make his final resting place a dignified memorial to him and his decendents.
Manpower is the easy part. We have cleared the land, but more is needed. We need to clean and repair some of the markers and I have a vision of a beautiful fence surrounding a pleasent park like setting. Can you help to make it happen?
