Our Friend's Home Burned Down: Help Her Family Recover

Our dear friend Sumaya, her husband Gibran and their 8-year old daughter lost their home and everything they owned in the Eaton fires in Altadena. As the flames headed straight towards them, they packed meds, important documents, a few pieces of clothing for their daughter and they escaped to safety.

Everything they left behind and the walls of their home are now ashes. The only thing that remains is the front door to what used to be their home. Every bit of safety and security Sumaya and Gibran worked so long for is gone.

Sumaya has spent her career coaching and creating safety and security for intersectional social justice activists. As an activist and survivor herself, she stood up to the powerful to speak out against sexual abuse. She advocated for diversity and inclusion through compassion. She now needs our compassion to get back on her feet. We are heartbroken for Sumaya and her family and we are determined to help them in this moment of need, just as she has helped so many others in their moment of need.
