The Aftermath of a Tragedy, Will You Help?

Donation protected

We, June Daniels, Debra Evans, and Katherine Ragland are organizing this campaign for Me’Lisa Amos, whom we have known for more than 40-years.  During this time, we have shared and witnessed her celebrations, triumphs, and tragedies.  When Me’Lisa is happy, we’re happy for her and during those times of sadness, we do what is possible, to help lighten those loads.  This is one of those times, of great sadness, which we cannot lighten the load alone…will you help this family in desperate, need?

Me’Lisa Amos, a mother of nine with four underage children, Amaya, Jalon, Jaki, and Julius, desperately need our help to obtain “permanent” housing.  Currently, this young family is living in “emergency” temporary housing with the help of her family.  This is how the Amos Family was reduced to “emergency” temporary housing…

Sunday, August 23, 2020, less than 90-days ago, was a devastating day for the Amos and Ford Families of Indianapolis, Indiana.  On that day, 16 year old Ameir Chaz Ford, was not “lost” because if he were lost, the hundreds of grieving family members and friends who attended his Funeral on August 29th, would yet search for Ameir…he was killed!  An entire branch of a family tree before “budding” was literally, destroyed in a drive-by shooting.  Ameir was killed on that sunny, bright day of August, while standing on the steps of the Apartment where he lived with his Mother, Twin Sister, and three little brothers.

Sunday, July 25, 1993, 27-years ago, was a devastating day for the Amos Family of Indianapolis, IN.  Me’Lisa Amos’ brother, Charles Steven “Stevie” Amos, a year older than she, was killed when stepping between two sets of his friends with hopes of preventing a shooting.  The tragedy, which occurred 27-years ago is compounding the grief, Me’Lisa is currently, experiencing.

Ameir was not the oldest of Me’Lisa’s nine children. He was not the oldest of the five children living at home.  Ameir’s twin sister, Amaya was older than him.  When Ameir discovered “the breakfast, lunch, and dinner” meat came from animals, he and Amaya stopped eating meat!  As you can imagine, being twins, Ameir and Amaya were inseparable…they took care of each other.  It was Amaya, who discovered the devastating, aftermath of that dreadful day.

Amaya and others are thankful for the fond memories they have of Ameir.  Ameir demonstrated his love for family, others, and sense of teamwork through:

*Helping with his little brothers, who looked-up to him.

*Bringing laughter, during down times, with his jovial personality.

*Persuading friends to attend church with him and his family; seven of
those friends, were baptized in February of this year.

*Playing football, which was his favorite sport, with his school team, and
                 community leagues.

Will you help???????

Due to this heart-wrenching, emotionally-stressed, devastating chapter in Ameir’s Mother, his Twin Sister, and little brothers, ages, 9, 7, & 5, lives, they don’t have the emotional strength, to live in that apartment complex.   Me’Lisa Amos and children have moved twice, since the 23rd of August, 2020 with another to take place on November 1st.  Living in “emergency” temporary housing and the frequency of moves, brought on by tragedy, has resulted in a decreased sense of security and increased unstableness for this young Family.  First move was from the Apartment where Ameir was killed into the 1st “emergency” temporary housing.  Due to lack of vacancies, Me’Lisa had to relocate her young family again, to another “emergency” temporary housing.  The “emergency” temporary housing is very expensive and Me’Lisa’s family is helping to defray the cost.

 Will you help???????

We, and I say “we” because I’m hoping, you are willing to help this young family establish “permanent” housing. We cannot change the devastating, life altering, tragedy no family wants to experience, which thrusted Me’Lisa, Amaya, Jalon, Jaki, and Julius into this “heart-wrenching” chapter of their life.  We (all those who are willing  and will help) can eliminate at least one of the compounding headaches & heartaches Me’Lisa and her children are currently, experiencing.

Will you help???????

Let’s get together and give Me’Lisa $175,000 to purchase a home. A home they can call their "safe" place. Their "safe" place,  is bound to help increase/regain a sense of increased security and stableness, which is very important during this fragile time of their lives.

Will you help???????

Let’s help Me’Lisa, Amaya, Jalon, Jaki, and Julius, any amount will help, reach the goal.

Will you help???????
