The Aldro Playground Project

In 2009 the Aldro “Shacklefort” was opened, since then it has been a focal point of our school and enjoyed by many children over the years. It has done really well to last for 14 years and we are very grateful to the maintenance department for their up keep of it. However, the fort is now aging and is too small for our school, so we are very grateful and delighted that the Friends of Aldro Association have decided to fundraise to create a NEW PLAYGROUND!

Fund raising is well under way, thank you to all those who have kindly donated and the FOAA who are generously donating the funds raised over the last few years. The target is large but we have already got 75% of the total towards the build. The total cost is £82,000 which includes the very large structure, and the other elements and surface too. We are aware this is a very large amount of money to raise but with the school expanding and the old fort now aging there is a real need for a larger area for the children to play at break times as well as for the boarders to enjoy after school and at weekends.

We are now looking to raise the final £20,000 so that the children to enjoy the new playground as soon as possible!
