The Alway Family Emergency Help

Donation protected
Hello my name is Abby. I am fundraising for The Alway Family. As many of you know, and many may not know Elgin had a medical emergency this past Friday with an asthma attack. He woke up feeling short of breath and tried multiple treatments to try and help his breathing. He tried his inhaler, nebulizer and even tried oxygen. Ultimately, they had to make a decision to get Elgin emergency help. They called 911 and had an ambulance come to pick him up. Just as they were leaving the let Shamber know that he may need to end up being intubated. Shamber eventually was able to join Elgin at the hospital and she was informed that he had gone into cardiac arrest in the ambulance, shortly after he arrived at the hospital and then again, a couple hours later, and they ultimately had to intubate him and give him sedation and paralytics. They let her know they were monitoring his brain due to the cardiac arrests. Later that night after Shamber had gone home to be with their daughter who is recovering from open heart surgery, it turns out that Elgin suffered a seizure. The following day the doctors told Shamber that Elgin’s brain may be worse than originally thought because of the cardiac arrests, one of which last for 15 minutes. We have all been praying for a miracle but unfortunately the latest update is that Elgin’s brain suffered enough trauma that even if he did wake up, he would be in a vegetative state. Shamber has had to make the decision to allow hospital protocol to run its course, but when the time comes they will take him off the machine that is keeping his body breathing. Shamber is absolutely devastated, but knows God is with them, she even saw Jesus standing by Elgin and knows Elgin is going home to be with Jesus.
Elgin is leaving behind his amazing wife, and sweet daughter Adaline. This last year has been a really rough year for this family. Adaline was born with Tetralogy of Fallot with MAPCAs and they have had to see her through two major open-heart surgeries and multiple catheterizations. They had only just been home for a week from the release of their hospital stay for Adaline’s huge heart surgery. They have had many stressors and walked through so much trauma already. I know Elgin was always trying to provide for her girls, the loves of his life. He fought as hard as he could for them, but it is now time for him to be able to rest in peace and go home to his heavenly Father. So I am asking that we keep the Always family in our prayers, I ask that if you know of any resources or have any resources that you can share with Shamber to help her and Adaline make this very hard transition to a life without Elgin by their side, that you would donate or let her know of other resources that may help. Please help me lift this family up so that they feel all the love there is around them, so that they know they are not alone. I know Elgin would be grateful to know his girls are being looked after and cared for, so let’s make him proud of what we can do for Shamber and Adaline.
Elgin you will be missed my friend. I’m sorry none of us got the chance to say goodbye, but I guess goodbye isn’t the right word…it’s we will see you later. We will see you on the other side, rejoicing with God and giving you a big hug. I want you to know, that the community you left behind is going to do our best to support Shamber and Adaline going forward. Your girls will be cared for. May you rest in peace until we all meet again.

Thank you again for all your prayers and support, please continue to shower the Alway family in love.
