The Amazing Ribeiro Family Needs Our Help
Donation protected
Liz Mauck and Paul Ribeiro celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary on April 25th. They are two of the most incredible people I know, and some of our first friends when our family moved to a new local school. That’s just Liz and Paul – welcoming, kind, genuine, giving, amazing!
As many of you know, the Ribeiros were vacationing in Canada in July 2022 when Paul’s fight against Grade 4 glioblastoma began. Since then, they’ve worked together through horrendously unanticipated and trying circumstances, while still doing all they can to keep their kids’ lives as normal as possible and support each other along the way.
Unfortunately, despite Paul’s continued resolve, after spending the last three weeks in the hospital, the disease has progressed significantly. Paul came home late last week to bravely face the next chapter of this terminal illness. As Liz, Paul, Dominic, Jacqueline, and the rest of their family continue to navigate an incredibly tough transition, their circumstances have evolved, and they need our help.
Paul has done everything in his power to provide for his family, and his career was the primary source of the family’s income and insurance coverage. Liz has worked diligently to navigate these unanticipated financial burdens with reduced income for the last few months since Paul was moved to long-term disability, but as they transitioned to bring Paul home, some expenses arise almost every day, and it’s gotten harder and harder to manage. In the short term, there are financial needs to support a full-time caregiver, medical, surgical, and rehabilitative interventions, future emergency and palliative care, etc. Some of these may be partly covered with insurance, but will still cost thousands of dollars a month out of pocket.
More importantly, there will be costs to come – some that can be predicted and some that can’t: end-of-live services, household management, childcare, education, and so forth. Paul and Liz have done everything they could to prepare for the completely unimaginable. They expected to have more time. More time to be together, to save for college, for Liz to go back to work. The reality for Paul, Liz, Dominic, and Jacqueline is that their lives are changing every single day. While we can’t grant the gift of time, we can help provide for them now and in the future.
The Ribeiros are always the first family to offer to help someone (ANYONE) who needs it. Now, it’s our turn to support the Ribeiro family. Please help them alleviate current and future financial challenges and provide some calm, some breathing room, for this incredible family. They need us now more than ever!
Thank you for your continued support and prayers for Paul and Ribeiro family. Please pass this along to others via social media or e-mail to help us meet our goal.
