The Amesquita Family-Medical

Hi! My name is Candace Amesquita. I am 32. I have a husband named Jon and we have two kids. He works full time. I am a stay at home mom and I homeschool my oldest.

I have several chronic and degenerative health conditions that have left me unable to work but also mostly unable to care for myself and my children without assistance. I have applied for disability but we all know that takes a long time.

Some of my health conditions include Neuropathy, spinal stenosis, osteoarthritis, severe degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia, epilepsy, suspected MS and widespread nerve damage just to name a few. I’ve had a prior spinal fusion of my cervical spine as well.

I have doc apts weekly and often use a walker to get around now and have been prescribed a wheelchair for when I’m out if there’s a lot of walking.

I no longer can drive and am on a ton of meds that cause side effects.

My husband works 70 hour work weeks to make ends meet. All of my health issues started almost 3 years ago during my high risk pregnancy with our daughter and since then they’ve gotten worse.

A few months ago I noticed I was losing feeling in my arms and unable to use them half the time. A few weeks ago I had a nerve conduction study and emg done that showed I had significant nerve damage in both arms in both my motor function and sensory function. My left arm showed 80 percent loss in function. if I didn’t have surgery as soon as possible I would risk losing function in my arm entirely.

This past Thursday, December 29 I had surgery on my left arm to try and repair some of the damage -it will take weeks to months to know if it worked and how well. Of course I’ll have physical therapy and all the follow up care to constantly be checking the status of the damage.

my husband is currently using 6 vacation days to be home with me and help care for me and the kids and I am hoping we can raise some funds through this go fund me that would allow him to take off at least the two weeks until my stitches all come out.

Due to my other medical conditions, I have 4 more surgeries scheduled to be done by April 2023 perhaps more. My next one is scheduled feb 10. This is a lot on me mentally and physically as well as my family.

We were not prepared for all the specialists and tests and surgeries and all the bills that come with that- especially so many in such a short time. We are hoping these meds and surgeries improve my quality of life but we are asking for help financially. We do have health insurance and my husband does have FMLA for me through his employer however that doesn’t cover his overtime he works or secondary ( which he is unable to do while out on FMLA)

Any money raised would go to paying the medical bills, co insurance for the surgeries , and the time for my husband to be off work to care for me and the kids over the course of all these surgeries the next few months. Any amount donated would be appreciated.
