On Friday afternoon, February 2nd, my cousin and his family came home to devastation. Andy, a professor at Vanderbilt University, dreamed of settling down with his bride Annie. They dreamed of owning land and building a home for his son Carter, to grow up in. Their love for animals and God's creation led them to purchase a property in Columbia, Tennessee, where they started the process of building their dream home.
2023 was an amazing year of new beginnings. Andy and Annie's dream came true of building dream home and were married on March 9th, 2023.
This past Friday, February 2nd, 2024, the family came home to a picture no one ever wants to see. Their house and barn caught fire. This fire was a total loss. A friend named Bob was able to rescue their cat in the barn seconds before it collapsed, but many of their furry friends were lost in the fire.
Andy, Annie, and Carter are all safe. We are all very thankful for this. But, to see your dreams go up in smoke will shake anyone to the core. I am sure the family is still processing everything lost in the fire.
Amid this tragedy, Andy and Annie have kept their eyes on the Lord. They are holding on to His promise that He will make beauty from ashes. (Isaiah 61:2-3)
How can you help?
1. Please keep their family in your prayers. They have all been through so much with the loss of Claire to cancer (Andy's first wife and Carter's mom), and now to face this fire is devastating.
2. Consider a financial gift that will help them immediately. We all know insurance can take forever, and who knows if they will cover all that was lost. Our family and/or our friends need us. They need many of the necessities we all take for granted: clothes, food, and a foundation to start rebuilding. They need to know that we care and love them. So, please consider giving what you can to a family who could use encouragement and love during this time.
Andy is a positive person and has already said that they will rebuild. Let's be a part of the rebuilding right now by being a blessing.
Thank you for considering.
God bless you all,
