HELP MASHALA SHELTER DURING TIMES OF WAR
Donation protected
My name is Hanane, fundraising for Houssein Hamze @ Mashala shelter.
Lebanon is under a heartbreaking war since September 2024, over 2,000 people have lost their lives and unfortunately animals are also victims of this war.
The south of Lebanon which is home to thousands of stray animals, became a warzone, a lot of animals were left behind.
Houssein the founder of @mashalashelter has over 250 dogs in his shelter and refused to leave the warzone for the animals.
Houssein started going around to feed the animals that were chained, left in cages and on the streets and quickly this became a huge responsibility for him as now hundreds of animals apart from the ones in his shelter depend on him.
Houssein started needing too many dry food bags on a daily basis. He also needed a van that he was able to purchase after years of fundraising for it…
Houssein was spending every morning with the 50+ cats and dogs hanging around his porch.
On October 16 2024, Houssein was in his home making food after a really long and tiring day of feeding the animals and taking care of them.
A strike hits really close to his home, causing him to almost lose his life, it was a miracle that he survived. As he got out of his destroyed house, he realized that none of the cats or dogs were there, Houssein burst out crying thinking he lost them all.
Houssein lost everything his home, his van that he uses for rescues. Thankfully some of the cats have been reappearing and all the dogs have been rescued.
Houssein needs to start again from 0, all the food that had stored, his van, his house, all of it is gone…
Houssein still refuses to leave the animals even after almost losing his life, he refuses to leave them behind.
His mission is still clear but he needs our help to support him financially.
