The Anne Mooney 24 Hour Memorial Walk
In remembrance of our Mother, Anne Mooney, we her family, are carrying out a fundraiser to commemorate her first anniversary.
As many of you know, our Mum tragically took her own life on the 28th of May 2020, at the age of 48. Our lives have been shattered and we are still trying to adapt to the life without an incredible Mother, Wife, Daughter, Sister, Aunty and Friend.
Our mother, she was the most kind-hearted, self-less, beautiful person who dedicated her whole life to her children, family, and friends. Mum never thought of herself, she always focused on caring for others, making sure their needs were met before her own. We will never be able to thank her for everything she has done for us, but we can continue to make her proud and keep her memory alive. By doing this fundraiser, not only will we be keeping her name and memory alive, but she will also be continuing to help and care for people as she always did. Anne Mooney really was an angel in disguise on this earth and her kind-heartedness and good nature never ever went unnoticed.
We have decided to carry out a 24 hour walk from the Saturday 5th June 2021 starting @ 12pm –Sunday 6th June2021 @12pm. This walk will be carried out on the 4km “Dooagh Loop" which we are very lucky to have running right outside our door on Chongie Road‚ Dooagh. We would be so grateful for anyone who would like to donate an hour of their time on the June Bank holiday to walk\run\cycle a "loop" during the 24 hours. The support we have received from such a fantastic Community time and time again has been outstanding, we have no doubt we will see a few of you there, so support us one more time. Knowing how much our mother was thought of in this community and how much she was loved has been a huge comfort to us over the past year.
We never ever want any family to ever go through what we have had to go through or wake up to the living nightmare we do every morning. Sometimes people get tired of fighting to live - but we would do anything to give them that strength to fight that little but longer and fight to stay with their loved ones by giving them the support they need.
This is the reason we have decided to run this fundraiser for two fantastic causes.
- Pieta House
Many fundraisers have been carried out for Pieta House suicide prevention and self-harm over the Month of May and people’s generosity knows no bounds. As most of you are aware Pieta provides free 24 -hour support to those who are in suicidal distress, those who engage in self harm and those who are bereaved by suicide. You can free text “Help” to 51444 or free call 1800247247 to provide of this free one to one support.
-The Family Centre, Castlebar
The second organisation we have decided to fundraise for is the Family centre in Castlebar for their bereavement counselling services which are completely voluntary. We never want a family to ever lose a family member to those who are left behind, we want you to know that you are not alone. The support they have given to our family since the passing of Mum has been immeasurable and we continue to be so grateful for the support you're providing to us, especially through all the milestones we've had to face. As a small body, they have very little means of fundraising opportunities on a big scale so we want to take this opportunity to try our best and do what we can for this fantastic charity non-profit organisation.
Any donation that people can afford to make towards this event is more than appreciated and we thank everybody again for their continued support over the past year. We are forever grateful.
