The Arizona Melee Championship 2024 Prize Pool

Donation protected
The Arizona Melee Championship 2023 was a completely community ran, invitational event of the best performing talent at larger Arizona Melee Regionals over several months prior to the event. It was directly inspired by the Smash Summit Series ran by Beyond the Summit.
  • The invited player pool was mostly comprised of Arizona locals, with multiple also coming from the Mexicali region that regularly travel to Arizona events.
  • We charged entrants no fees, provided them food and housing, and were committed to creating an event that attendees enjoyed first and foremost. This event was conceived to be a reward to those who have put in the effort needed to succeed in this challenging game, and our secondary goal for it was to generate interest in a deep and storied community that is home to many amazing players.
  • This tournament was mainly funded by Tucson Organizers with support from the overall Arizona Melee community. We had a prize pool of $1,500 that was comprised entirely of donations, not to mention hundreds of dollars spent on food and equipment. This involved multiple community members donating hundreds of dollars that they recouped none of whatsoever. For a staff of primarily college students with little available funds, it proved to be an unsustainable amount for us to contribute regularly on our own.
  • We were incredibly pleased with how the event went and received plenty of positive feedback that showed a desire for this event to be a recurring staple of the community. We decided that we would attempt to run this invitational once a year, and have been working hard to improve every aspect of the event that we felt could reasonably be upgraded.
  • Below you will find last year's start.gg page and a video we made to document this event:

  • We have been hard at work preparing everything for the Arizona Melee Championship 2024. It will take place on March 2nd-3rd in Tucson, Arizona. We have updated our stream, equipment, schedule, and have invited even more amazing talent.
  • The only part of running the Arizona Melee Championship 2024 that is still a concern is the funding for the prize pool that will go exclusively to the players. We would like to at least match the $1,500 prize pool of last year, but it is going to take help for us to reach that goal. This GoFundMe page is setup so that we can raise the funding needed to make this event as exciting as it was last year. The organizers of this event have no desire to profit from this event in any way.
  • Contributions of any amount are greatly appreciated, and contributors of every tier of support will be credited at the conclusion of the event. Contributors of at least $69 (nice) will also receive a discount on AZMC merchandise of which all proceeds will go to the prize pool as well.
