The Baby Spa

Covid, a name I’m sure we’ve all begun to hate. We hate hearing about the rise, the deaths and the restrictions. Something we all would like to leave behind in 2020 and start fresh in 2021. Unfortunately the cases are yet still to high and we as a province have to face another lockdown. Many small businesses are suffering, The Baby Spa is one of those.

Tara began her dream of opening The Baby Spa October 2019 by starting construction on the place and was ready for her grand opening March 17th 2020. Unfortunately that was the day the first lockdown started. This lasted three months. Tara did not qualify for financial relief from the government due to zero revenue history, she was also denied from banks for loans for the same reason, and her building owner did not see it necessary to offer rent relief due to what the Government was publicly announcing they were offering to businesses. Tara and her husband were left to keep the building afloat on their money with zero income from the business yet to help. The stress of this took a toll on Taras mental and physical health. Tara has MS and has a very bad flare up during this time.

Tara was able to finally have her Grand Opening June 16th. Her first client being 2 weeks after that. Through word of mouth she was able to build a loyal client base, but still not being able to open at full capacity and being a new business expenses still weren’t being covered from her business alone and her and her husband were pulling out of pocket to cover costs.

This second shutdown will be devastating to this business, this family and Taras dream. One they may not be able to re-open from. Tara believes in what The Baby Spa stands for, the impact it has on the babies health and happiness, and the community she is building with this business.

I heard about this buisness through multiple posts on a Mom Group I am apart of on facebook with moms raving about their experience, so I had to check it out myself! I booked in my son for a float after seeing a third post in a week! My son (6 weeks at the time) was a little sceptical at first while being put in the water, but within seconds was in total awe as he smilked and kicked away.  My boyfriend and I watching and fliming as Matteo kicked around in the tub. This experience was such a bonding moment for us as a new family, and helped Matteo out with multiple issues. He struggles with bad Reflux, Gas (as many babies do!) His digestion and of course sleep! After two sessions we noticed a HUGE difference in all those things and more.  Sleep and his Digestion were the biggest positive changes we notice, and almost instantly! Tara even checked in with me the next day to see how Matteo had slept and felt the next day. So with that being said, we would hate to see this buisness close for us, for Tara, her family and for all the other babies like Matteo that love coming to The Baby Spa and all the babies that still have yet to try it for themselves!

The spa cost approximately $6000 to run per month for the bare necessities. This covers rent, insurance, utilities and internet/security systems. My goal is to be able to give Tara $8000 to help cover the bare necessities and more to help keep this amazing business afloat.

No amount is to little, and appreciated by many!

If you don’t have any extra to spare during this financially difficult time, please give this a share instead!

Thank You.
