The Backus Children Education Fund

As we celebrate the life of Tara Nicole Backus we remember one of the most important things to her was her children’s education. Tara was a Seaford School District teacher for over 20 years before losing a difficult battle with cholangiocarcinoma on October 13, 2018. She leaves behind four beautiful children Caelan-18, Briaunna-13, Avery-10 and Cameron-9.  Caelan is a freshman Chemical Engineering student at the University of Delaware, and his three siblings aspire to follow in his footsteps in the future.

Nothing will heal the heartbreak of losing their mother but a college education will provide the Backus children an opportunity to do positive things in our community.  My name is Timothy Edmondson and I live in Delmar, Delaware. I am a proud uncle of these four children and would like nothing more than to see them succeed in life. Prior to passing Tara assigned me to be executor of her will.   All monies generously donated will go to a trust established for the children's education.  This will be accomplished via a 529 college savings account.  The money will be withdrawn from their account as required to pay college expenses.   I would like to sincerely thank anyone willing to contribute.
