The Badr Family of Rockshire, Fallsmead, & Frost

Thank you for visiting the fundraising page for the beloved Badr family of Rockshire. Our names are Susan Aarhus and Renée Shuman, and along with friends and neighbors from Frost MS, Fallsmead ES, and the Rockshire HOA Community, we are reaching out for your help to support the Badr family.

Yasmine (7th grade), Zena (6th grade), Salma (5th grade) and Mohammed (3rd grade) have been permanent features of the Rockshire pool since their preschool years, and Fallsmead and Frost have been blessed with their smiles since Yasmine first burst on the school scene 8 years ago! Dad Ahmed can be seen happily cheering on and videoing the girls at Rockshire Sharks swim meets, and Mom Samah has grown from a shy newcomer to the States to an outgoing member of the community and employee of MCPS.

A little over a year ago, the family received the devastating news that Ahmed has a very aggressive form of brain cancer, Glioblastoma. He underwent surgery early this year, and is continuing chemotherapy treatment. Ahmed has been unable to work during his treatment and, as you can imagine, both regular bills and medical bills are mounting.

The community has been rallying around the Badr family to help them tap into available support systems, but more help is needed; YOUR help is needed! The goal of this particular fundraiser is to help ease the burden of their mortgage and other living expenses while Ahmed continues treatment so that the family can remain in the Rockshire/Wootton Cluster community where the children are thriving and connected.
