Aloha!
Thank you to everyone reaching out to check on our family and loved ones. I'm the granddaughter to Maria Badua of Lahaina. My grandparents home is located on Ainakea Rd where my grandmother, Auntie Sonia Peters, Uncle Wendell Peters, Uncle Angel Badua jr, Auntie Liza Badua, my cousins: Malia Badua and Chris Talana, Uncle Poli and Auntie Florita, Cousin: William and his daughter Starling Badua all reside. All members have been accounted for and have made it out of Lahaina.
Our grandpa, Angel Badua, built our family home with his own two hands. Earlier this year, we remembered the 1st year since his passing. This home and everything in it was his greatest gift to our family. Our home hosted celebrations, family dinners, and was gathering place for family from all over Maui, Hawaii, and the Philippines. Our Grandma, Maria Badua, along with the family are absolutely devastated that it’s gone.
1331 Ainakea was the home of Angel and Maria Badua, who had 8 children, 22 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. If you are a friend or loved one of any of our family members and feel moved to do so, please consider contributing to the rebuilding of our family home.
As we know so many of our lives have been changed forever. I am starting this GoFundMe as an immediate and direct way to help my family members to provide relief to our family members.
Many have been reaching out wanting to send direct support to my family and we appreciate your hearts to serve and assist us in this time. All funds will go to support my grandmother, my aunts and uncles, my cousins and nieces and nephews who lost their home, cars, pets, and belongings in the Lahaina fires. My family members also lost their jobs, and places of work leaving them without work. For my Uncle Angel, he lost is business, Badua Boards, where he provided hand-crafted woodwork. His entire shop and tools were lost in the fires. These funds will serve to help get his tools replaced and help support my family navigate thru this unforeseen time.
These funds and your support will go directly and immediately to help my family members and other families and friends of Lahaina who need support, belongings, and living funds. As we are all still processing this, we thank you all for your outreach, outpouring of love and prayers.
We are thankful for all of you and even in these life-changing times, we keep our Faith Strong! We are LAHAINA GROWN and our home and town may be gone but the ALOHA and LOVE of our LAHAINA PEOPLE will live on!
Mahalo for your love, support and continued prayers for MAUI!
