The Balderas - Izquierdo Family
Donation protected
We are collecting funds for the Balderas - Izquierdo family as they mourn the loss of their oldest daughter, Alondra.
Alondra had a kidney transplant when she was very young, and the immune-suppressing drugs she had to take made her susceptible to cancer later in life. Indeed, Alondra was diagnosed with cancer over the summer and she passed away on February 27, 2023, 16 days from her 19th birthday.
Alondra was in and out of Children's Hospital in the fall, for radiation, chemotherapy, and other treatments. This winter she was in the hospital for weeks and months at a time. Soraya and Hector were often picking up her 9-year-old sister, Sofia, from school, driving to Denver to spend the night with Alondra, and then leaving the hospital in the morning to drive Sofie back to Fort Collins for school and her therapies.
Many days they made the 70-mile round trip to Children's Hospital and back multiple times.
Funds from this drive will go to the family to help with medical bills, funeral expenses, basic living expenses, Sofia's care, and anything else they might need right now. Some funeral expenses have already been donated directly to the funeral home.
This family has been working so, so hard this year to support their girls. If anyone could use a helping hand at this moment, it's them. Even though we can't take away the pain of losing Alondra, let's see if we can help with some of the financial stress in their lives.
