Hi everyone, as most of you know, Kaeden has suffered severely from Chron's Disease since 2013. Over the years, he has been taking medications to help with this disease, but recently, we found out that the treatments did not help, and he was getting worse, which led to the conclusion that the colon, some, if not all, will need to be removed.
Kaeden was scheduled for surgery on September 2nd, where a colectomy was performed. Since then, he has had two other major surgeries due to complications, infection and a small bowel perforation.
After Kaedens colostomy surgery, he was left septic- Sepsis is a life-threatening infection it occurs when an infection in the body gets into the bloodstream. Shortly after, Kaeden was moved to ICU due to ARDS, a severe lung condition that causes low blood oxygen. Because of ARDS, Kaeden was troubled with his breathing, and to help this, Kaeden was put on a ventilator. Kaeden was improving and going in the right direction, so the doctors decided to remove the breathing tube on September 13th, and Kaeden was breathing on his own!!
Things were looking up; on September 15th; he was improving. He watched movies, ate a popsicle, and sat on the side of the bed with help from mom and dad. But on September 19th, Kaeden was rushed to CT because he was leaking from his incision. Something had let go inside. He was set to go in the OR at 9:30 pm. all there was to do was wait.
1 am Kaeden was out of surgery and stable. He had two holes in his small bowel
that leaked toxins into his body. His little body got so full it was forced out through his incision site, and now we are back to day 1.
Thursday, September 22nd, more perforations appeared in his small bowel Kaeden was rushed back into the OR to do more repairs and to try to remove all the toxins from his body. He remains sedated and back on a ventilator where all his loved ones hope and pray for healing.
Before this, Kaeden was a happy-go-lucky kid who enjoyed playing video games with his two older brothers, tormenting his younger sisters and cuddling up on the couch with his two fur buddies, Madi and Axel who are all missing him dearly.
We have started this Go Fund Me account to help ease the burden on his parents, Lisa and Nelson. Over the coming days, weeks, and months there will be countless procedures, hospital stays, physiotherapy, and recovery, and this, combined with the everyday cost of living, will be extremely expensive. This account will allow Kaedens parents to focus on Kaeden getting well and fighting this; from the bottom of our hearts, we kindly ask that you share this link with friends and family and also donate if you are able because no amount is too little.
