Ceiba Seedling : Help Empower QTBIPOC Farmers

Donation protected
Ceiba Arbor is a collective of 8 multidisciplinary QTBIPOC visionaries and land tenders, descendants of immigrants and migrants who share a commitment to resilience, community, and sustainability. Having emerged from systems that enacted generational poverty and displacement, the investment in this land and the establishment of a farm and homestead represent a pivotal moment in our collective journey—a step towards breaking generational traumas and securing a future of stability and abundance.

We are artists--filmmakers, photographers, painters, poets. We are land-tenders--seed savers, urban farmers, gardeners, florists. We are educators, musicians, and parents.

In the Summer of 2023, our years of collective vision-boarding came to fruition when we were matched with a 16 acre farm property in Paugwonk (Salem) Connecticut. We use the word matched because this isn't a typical sale; none of us come from generational wealth, have an inheritance, or a savings that would be able to afford a project like this. This is made possible by a team of folks working in Land Trusts to keep land protected, affordable, and accessible to people like us.

Yes, we are starting a small farm business, but our vision for this project goes beyond agriculture. Ceiba Arbor will be a farm cooperative that blends growing food, arts, education, and ceremony, serving as a model for other farmers of color who aspire to do the same. It will be an inter-generational retreat space, calling in people who want to learn how to be in relationship with the land. We'll host events and design curriculum that emphasize the connection between food sovereignty, culture, celebration, and liberation. We'll be growing a legacy using food as a pathway.

Our campaign goal of $100,000 will help us as we bring this dream down into reality.

Our budget breakdown is as follows:
$22,200 - Urgent home renovations for Fall 2024 move in date
$38,800 - Farm start-up costs for Spring 2025
$32,000 - Mortgage Down payment
$7,000 - Six months worth of utilities

We are humbled by your contribution, and in exchange for your donation, we pledge complete transparency around how these funds get used; frequent updates, and inclusion of your name (if provided) on our sponsor list.

This will truly take a village, and we are so grateful to our community network for the support we've received so far.

We thank you so much--we are so eager to give it all back to the land.
