The Bedwas South Africa Team of 2024

Hi, I'm a science teacher at Bedwas High School. We have a conservation trip planned to South Africa in July 2024 for our Biology and Geography students. They will be given the opportunity to study conservation methods in a real-life context, see the Big Five in their natural habitat, will be taking part in a beach clean up and assisting in a local primary school. As you can imagine, this will be an incredible opportunity for them but it is also going to be very expensive, especially in the current economic climate.

We are organising various fundraising activities throughout this year to help pupils manage the cost of the trip, including bag packing, raffles, bake sales, sponsored walks etc. This GoFundMe is where we're hoping you might be able to help.

Working towards raising the money themselves will be a valuable lesson in resilience, perseverance and confidence. Owning this trip will only make the experience better for the pupils and it is genuinely one of the few once-in-a-lifetime opportunities available. For some of our pupils, it will be the first time they leave the country!

The money raised from this GoFundMe will be split evenly between the students and every little amount donated makes a massive difference.
