The Beers Family's COVID Fight
My younger brother and his wife, Matt & Betsy Beers, are loved members of Pine Valley, Crossbridge Community Church, NACS, and FWCS. Betsy teaches at Northrop High School, while Matt drives a bus and trains drivers for NACS. They've been huge supporters of Kate's Cart, and Matt is the voice of C3 Sports. In addition to being some of the most creative people in the world, they have three amazing children: Jack (17), Macy (14), and Zoe (11).
The girls both had mild cold symptoms a few weeks ago. Matt, Betsy, and Jack started feeling crummy on July 1, and tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, July 5. Jack has since improved--still dealing with a cough, congestion, and fatigue. Betsy went to the ER on July 8 and was diagnosed with COVID pneumonia. They treated her with steroids and gave her IV fluids. She stayed the night for observation, and was released the next day, Thursday.
On Friday, July 9, Matt was still struggling. His temperature was higher. After passing out, Betsy's mom Denise took him to the ER. He was given IV fluids. His pulse was high, so they gave him an EKG and a chest X-ray. Both turned out to be clear, so they treated him with an infusion of Bamlanivimab--an antibody drug, and released him.
This couple has blessed their communities in many ways. They are beloved by many--students in two different school districts, parents of those same students, people with whom they worship, athletes and parents involved with C3 Sports, neighbors, etc. It's our turn to give back to them. Their jobs are very valuable and touch many lives, but neither pays extremely well. They were hesitant to go to the ER because of the bills it would create. Let's help them cover their deductible and any bills that come after.
If anyone is handy--and vaccinated, Matt & Betsy were in the middle of replacing the flooring on the main level of their home. (Literally, Matt was working on it while Betsy was at the hospital.) Finishing that job would be a huge relief for the family.
Please give what you can. This family has done so much for the Fort Wayne Community; let's show how well the community can take care of them.
