Hi. I’m Valerie, Daughter of Carlyle “Quench”Thomas, a 61 man, Jamaican Native, who resided in Brooklyn, who was killed by a fatal punch from an angered tow truck driver on March 16th 2024. Mr. Thomas did nothing wrong. He tried to stop his vehicle from being towed from a neighbor gas station, owned by someone Mr. Thomas considered a friend.
Mr. Thomas often parked at this gas station. Sometimes he would pay $10 to park overnight and other times he won’t because he and the owner were cool, friends. So cool that Mr. Thomas would occasionally help out in the gas station. Doing things like packing out deliveries and preventing people from stealing from the gas station. All FREE OF CHARGE. Mr. Thomas treated the gas station owner and its employees as family.
Sadly, the owner of this very gas station called a tow company to Mr.Thomas vehicle towed, ultimately leading to his death. Someone called Mr. Thomas out of his bed around 8:45 on March 16th, to inform him that his vehicle was being towed, as the gas station is just 15 steps away from his home. Mr.Thomas got into a verbal dispute with the tow truck driver about the towing of vehicle but the driver met Mr.thomas with rage and anger, delivering one fatal punch to the head. Instantly claiming Mr.Thomas life.
This senseless and heartless act has left us all stricken of a dad, a grandfather, a husband, uncle, brother and friend. Mr. Thomas is no longer here with us to share a laugh, make lifelong memories or merely wrap his arms around the ones he loved dearly.
Mr. Thomas was always the life of the party. He had a heart of gold and would go out his way to help his community. He was considered the “neighborhood boss”. His sudden and tragic death has left his community devastated and weakened. Mr. Thomas will always be remembered for his bubbly personality, and loving heart.
