The Best of Frank Wilson - Harmonica Songs for Dementia

Donation protected
My amazing Dad, Frank Wilson is a self taught harmonica player of 71 years, amongst many other talents.

Over the past 6 months, I've helped him to record an album of 30 of his favourite songs on his harmonica - from Vera Lynn, Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, to John Denver, country songs, Irish jigs, Christmas carols and many other classic sing-a-long songs!
It has been a deeply profound, insightful, bittersweet and poignant journey, and an extraordinary accomplishment, especially considering Dad has had dementia for 11 years.

The man who spoke 3 languages, was an amazing artist, excelled at algebra and whose team built the worlds fastest helicopter, now struggles to speak, yet with gentle encouragement, he played every one of his favourite songs pretty much note perfect.

Such is the wonder of music.

He didn't only play every song, he also helped produce the album by listening back and approving each song, getting me to correct 'bum' notes wherever possible! He has also chosen the album title and the cover himself.

We are now at the final stages of production. For the best quality, the mixing and mastering needs to be done by a qualified engineer in a professional studio.

After acquiring copyright clearance, the album will be released both online as a digital product for download and streaming, and as a physical CD. It will be distributed to all major outlets online, through my record label, Contact Media.

We aim to print 1000 CDs, which I will send to care homes, day care centres, and dementia and Alzheimers organisations across the UK, Europe and further afield.

Remaining CDs will be sold and 50% of the money from sales will be given to Dementia Research to help find a cure for this cruel, debilitating illness, and provide support for dementia sufferers and their families.

Funds raised through GoFundMe will be used to mix and master the album, print the CDs, post them out to relevant parties, and market the album to increase exposure.

If you can help to get my Dad's album finished, with even just a small donation of $5 or £10, so we can share it with others with dementia and Alzheimers, that they too may enjoy and remember the joys of music, the way Dad has done while making this extraordinary album, we would be deeply grateful.

Please share this fundraiser if it resonates, to help bring joy to others, helping raise awareness of the valuable activity of Singing and Music for Dementia.

AND... As a Special Thank you, the first 30 people to gift, will all receive a free copy of the album!

Thank You So Much x
