The Big Shave for the Brain Tumour Charity
Hello! I am hoping to raise some money for The Brain Tumour Charity as this is a charity close to my heart. My wonderful sister-in-law, Jade, was first diagnosed in 2015 with an Ependymoma in her 4th ventricule. Jade had a full resection followed by 30 sessions of radiotherapy. She then had to have biannual scans after this, in 2019 the scans found the tumour had regrown, so she had to have another operation. Her scans continued and in 2021 she found she had a nodule growing, she had gamma knife therapy for this, which stunted the growth, but in 2022 her scans showed a further 2 nodules had grown this time in a different location. Jade had further gamma knife therapy to treat those and she is awaiting the results of this.
Jade is the strongest, kindest person I’ve ever met. And I have seen first hand the wonderful things that research and charity can do for people in this situation.
I will be braving the shave in October and will be donating my luscious locks to “Locks of Love” after this.
The Brain Tumour Charity is the leader in its field, funding world-class research, providing support and information and raising awareness of brain tumours. It is dedicated to beating this disease, the biggest cancer killer of people under 40 in the UK.
