The Big Wrap 2024: Care Packages for DC's Homeless
Donation protected
Be jolly, be joyful, but most of all, BE HOPEFUL!
The Big Wrap is all about HOPE: embracing it, sharing it, and most importantly wrapping it! Please join us, as we invest in our community and each other. Together we will create 950 holiday care packages for people experiencing homelessness in the DC metro area!
Project goal:
Raise $6,000 to fund 850 care packages.
How we work:
This is our 13th year of delivering this project! We communicate with area shelters to assess their needs, then we raise funds and buy in super-bulk to stretch our donations. Just $7 funds a complete care package: cold-weather items (socks, gloves, hat), toiletries, and festive candy carefully wrapped with a holiday card. Volunteers wrap the care packages at our all-day event the Saturday before Christmas. We don't call it "The Big Wrap" for nothing! More volunteers distribute the care packages to DC-area shelters on Christmas Day.
How you can help:
- Donate cash! $28 covers 4 care packages--the gift of warm feet and self-care for people who may not receive any other gifts this season. 100% of donations go directly into the packages, and we do not carry funds over year to year. If you want to save GFM's service charge, V**m* me at @MeredithH-Lair. And don't forget: if you make a GFM donation, set the "tip" to zero!
- Make an in-kind donation of cards, holiday candy, or handmade hats! Please visit our project Facebook page or website for details on what we need!
- Wrap with us! Check back for details once we finalize our dates & location. BUT! If we don't get cash donations, there won't be much to wrap. Please consider chipping in!
- Share our GoFundMe link! Please help spread the word!

Thank you for your support! With your help, we can spread kindness--and HOPE--to our clients and each other. We remain incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported this project over the years!
