The Birth of Sean Baker Films: Start Up Capital

What's up y'all! I’m Sean Baker, a young black film producer from Harlem, New York. I am also a rapper, but because the music industry is overly saturated, I chose to start writing for film. Many of the “Hip Hop Godfathers” (who I also look to as mentors) have taken this route as well. You should know a few of their names; there’s Ice Cube, 50 Cent, Nas, Diddy, and many more…

I would like to be one of them.

It’s easy for us “Hip Hop Heads” to take our creative writing talents over to film, because TV series, movies, and documentaries are other outlets to tell the "Black In America" experience. Our stories are briefly told and touched on in our music, being as though a typical song won’t be longer than 3 minutes and 30 seconds. But with film, it’s like taking a music video and adding lines, plots, and taking more time to tell the story...it’s great!

Therefore, the mission of Sean Baker Films is to show and tell the black experience of young millennials, and more importantly, to give opportunities  to young writers who want their visions to come to life as well. When we are looking to build our production crews, we look for highly talented, dope writers who wouldn’t typically get a shot at film. This extends our dreams and goals into helping others achieve theirs...Sean Baker Films is bigger than me.

The initial donations made will go towards all start-up expenses for legally documenting a business, the website, and products and tools I use to manage my crews, projects, and scripts. After we’ve successfully taken care of start-up costs, I will immediately start my marketing campaign for Sean Baker Films (which will then be Sean Baker Films, LLC *wink*), and my first feature TV Series, “Out The Mud.” 

“Out The Mud” is currently under budget and is in the pre-production phase. The completed trailer is available for you to see in the campaign for your convenience. 

As of right now, I am not asking for costs of equipment. It is very expensive, and I am really asking for help with my biggest priority: getting Sean Baker Films (LLC) up and running! Between my Twitter and Instagram accounts, I am followed by 135,100 people!

If 2% of you donated $1, I would be able to reach my goal. TWO PERCENT! Now, of course all donations are welcomed, I’m just trying to tell y’all how easy it is to help.

The start up deadline coincides with the pre-production phase of “Out The Mud.” So...I’m starting this campaign on Tuesday, April 14th and it’s in my prayers that you guys can get me to $1,500 in two weeks. I have faith in MORE THAN 2% of my followers, so I will be able to do this!
