The Black Panther Experience @ MSCG

Memphis Scholars Caldwell Guthrie (MSCG) is a Title 1 elementary school, meaning a majority of our scholars are below the poverty line. We are in the heart of North Memphis, which is a truly beautiful city, but our scholars have seen more tragedies and experienced more heartbreak than imaginable. It is not by happenstance that their spirits remain unbroken! Just this year, in many classes, we achieved higher test scores than the previous year. We have instilled a sense of excellence within them, letting them know that they are capable of the breaking through all obstacles. How amazing would it be for them to see SUPERHEROES of color breaking through barriers just like they have?

To see characters that look like the students in my classroom! Every day we speak about achieving greatness—although this film is fiction the symbolic power that it has is very real!

We showed our scholars the trailer of Black Panther students and MAGIC appeared in their eyes!

We have never seen them so excited at the prospect of going to see a movie! The characters in this film will come to life before their eyes, and will affirm the words of success and encouragement that we fill them with every day!

Tickets: $5.50/scholar & chaperones

Concessions: $3.50/scholar 

Transportation: $250/hour
