The Bouchard Family (Baby Owen)

Eric and Katie's first baby, Owen Michael Howard Bouchard, was born April 14th, 2021, weighing 8lbs 3oz and beautiful. His birth was very hard on Katie as she faced painful complications. 

When they finally went home, Owen started having seizures. They took him immediately into the emergency room, where they discovered that Owen had a brain bleed. He was escorted to Children's Hospital in Detroit that evening via ambulance. Poor Owen was only 1 week old at this point.

They discovered that he had a  rare condition called AVM. I have attached information on this condition.

Owen continues to have fluid building on his brain. He becomes very sick, vomits, and cries frequently. When this happens, he gets very uncomfortable until they drain the fluid off.

On May 13th, they decided to go in and put a shunt in the brain. Tubing runs from his brain to his stomach to ensure that his body absorbs the fluid. Owen has been having difficulty since the shunt and has been put on Morphine to control the pain. They are doing an EEG to see what is going on.

To make matters worse, the COVID-19 restrictions at the hospital do not allow anyone else to help Katie and Eric with their son. They have been extremely wonderful and try to stay positive; however, they are both understandably terrified.

Eric Bouchard, Owen's daddy, had to go back to work because he started a new job. Katie is on Maternity leave, but that will be ending shortly. I want them to feel comfortable so they can tend to their precious son and not worry about money at this trying time.
