Samantha Bowman & Family Fighting Leukemia

A week ago Friday the Bowman family was at my house having a bbq. The kids playing together. Everyone laughing and joking together. Today, Samantha is in the hospital with Acute Leukemia fighting for her life. 

Sam started feeling ill a couple of weeks ago. Headache, fatigue. Initially, they wanted her tested for COVID because that's the new norm these days. That test came back negative so about a week later on Saturday, January 9th she went back in because she was just feeling so exhausted still, pounding headache and she felt like she could "feel her pulse in her ears".  They did a checkup and drew some labs and she went home.  An hour or so later they called her and said she needed to go to the ER. Her blood count was critically low at a 5 (9-12 being normal) and she needed to get a transfusion right away. After more bloodwork and a bone marrow biopsy the following Monday, she was officially diagnosed and thrust into this new battle for life. Acute Leukemia is aggressive and so starting treatment right away is a must.

She was admitted Thursday evening and started on chemotherapy Friday. Sam and her husband Pat have 3 beautiful kids. Zayde age 7,  Zyler age 4, and Zoey who is just a fresh 3 mths old. Samantha has to stay in the hospital for at least 4 weeks for the start of her treatment and then given no complications arise she can go home to continue her treatment. Pat is now faced with taking care of their 3 precious kiddos on his own while also trying to figure out how to work and visit Sam. They don't have any family in town so it is really hard for them to help as much as they would like to but they are doing the best they can. It's ALOT and i think every mom knows that not being able to take care of your kids yourself is such a helpless feeling even if you know they are in good hands.
