No one has ever come as close to recreating Marilyn Monroe as Jimmy James.
Born on a dirt road in Laredo, TX and raised in San Antonio, James was abused as a gender-dysphoric child. Eventually, in his early 20s he would go on to learn how to transform himself into becoming the world's greatest Marilyn Monroe Tribute Artist.

Before RuPaul, James was a pioneer for today's drag culture.
He garnered global notoriety after several national and international Talk Show appearances in the '80s & '90s: DONAHUE, SALLY, JOAN RIVERS, GERALDO, RuPAUL VH1, CNN and more...
He became a very successful nightclub entertainer with a 2 part show:
Act 1: Marilyn
Act 2: Voice Impressions

He modeled as Marilyn for several ad campaigns including in 1989 for LA EYEWORKS shot by Greg Gorman. The Monroe estate of lawyers threatened a lawsuit against all involved. The photo ran only ONCE in Andy Warhol's INTERVIEW Magazine but was later pulled and banished from everywhere — forbidden from ever being seen again.
It stayed hidden for 22 years until eventually, in 2012, a little thing called the internet set it free. Gorman finally showcased the photo in his book FRAMED.

In 1996 Jimmy James was also featured on a giant billboard in Times Square as Bette Davis, Judy Garland & Marilyn Monroe with Supermodel Linda Evangelista for the K E N A R fashion house. Perhaps, he may have been the first drag artist to ever appear on a billboard in Times Square.

By 2014 an African Stamp collection erroneously showcased the image along with the real Marilyn Monroe stamps.
With tattoos and paintings all over the internet, this photo may well be the MOST MISS-IDENTIFIED picture of Marilyn Monroe in the world.

In 1997 James retired from performing as Marilyn. He feared he was going to be doing Marilyn longer than she did Marilyn. However, he redesigned his shows to feature his extremely popular Voice Impressions while also working on songwriting and recording.

As a singer-songwriter, he went to the top of the BILLBOARD Dance Charts with glowing reviews of his original song FASHIONISTA. It went global and viral on the internet with over 35 Million Views on YouTube. The single is from his original album JAMESTOWN and has become a classic club anthem.

After 35-plus years as a male specializing in Female Voice Impressions, this is a rare talent that is unrivaled. And as an impressionist who was able to write his own chart-topping hit with his own voice is extremely rare.

The story of Jimmy James is long overdue and more relevant than ever.
