Anyone who knows Scott and Leslie Bradshaw knows that both of them are a couple of pretty amazing people. They are the kind of people you want in your corner. On Sunday November 10th, Scott started feeling sick with cold symptoms. On Monday at a doctor appointment, he didn't have a fever and his symptoms were mild. By Thursday he felt pretty bad, so he and Leslie both went to the doctor where they were both diagnosed with the flu, but his lungs were clear and his oxygen sats were at 100%. Around 4am on the morning of November 16th, he was having trouble breathing and Leslie insisted they go to the ER. His O2 was at 50% and a chest x-ray showed bilateral pneumonia. He was transferred to Seton Main to ICU where he continued to decline. He was then intubated and did not respond well to that. The decision was made to place him on ECMO. ECMO is a machine that provides prolonged respiratory support by removing the carbon dioxide from the blood, oxygenating it and returning it to the patient. The Bradshaw family was told that recovery for Scott would include a sedated sleep for probably a month. The news did not look good.
Fast forward a week. Scott is awake, alert, working with PT, and they have removed his ventilator. The family did not see this as a possibility a week ago. Scott just had to prove all of the doctors wrong and show how invincible he truly is. Two days before Thanksgiving they made the decision to remove him from the ECMO machine and he's expected to be home by the weekend. This is a massive change from where we started. While the family does have insurance and the bulk of the expenses should be covered, there is still going to be a pretty big out of pocket bill coming soon. If you would like to assist the family with some of these unforeseen medical expenses, it would be greatly appreciated. Any amount, big or small, would be helpful. The goal is $10,000. Please consider helping out today. Thank you in advance for support!!!!!
PS - Whether you donate or not, please continue praying for Scott as he has a long road ahead to get back to where he was before this nightmare began. And if there is any message that Scott wants to get out to everyone, it is to get your flu shot. Scott eats clean, takes care of his body and works out 6 days a week to stay in shape and maintain a healthy lifestyle. This proves that the flu does not discriminate and it can take a nasty turn that can take your life. We almost lost Scott on November 16th and literally 1 hour more and he most likely would have been found passed out on the floor, possibly already gone. GET YOUR FLU SHOTS! -The Bradshaw's
