Help The Breeze Get to NYC!
Donation protected
The Breeze is Chaffey College’s independent student-run newspaper, and the primary news source for the 22,000 community college students across our three campuses.
This year, we have been invited to participate in the College Media Association's National Convention in New York City on March 10–14. None of our staff have ever been to New York, and we are energized by the idea of stepping outside our community’s bubble to experience the journalism industry in a larger way and make the connections necessary to find work in the field.
Attending a community college, the vast majority of us juggle jobs with our classes, and we have never had the funds or time to study or travel anywhere beyond Southern California. At this convention, there will be 250 workshops with journalists from everywhere in the country, and we will be able to immerse ourselves in learning about a rapidly changing and more vital-than-ever profession.
Our faculty adviser is already making us appointments to network with industry professionals and has scheduled us a tour of The New York Times. As a team, we have raised $5,000 so far to cover the base costs to take four of our senior editors, but we would like to take more of us.
We are a small team trying to make a difference amidst the fray of commercial journalism, and we greatly appeciate your support (as a non-profit organization, all donations are fully tax-deductible).
A hearty thank you from everyone at the Breeze!
NOTE: We previously had our goal set at $5,000 but now have it set to a more realistic goal of $2,500, hence why the video below states our original goal. Thank you again to everyone who has donated!
Our campaign ends on March 9, 2017.
