Help Bring The Bucca to Life – A Thrilling Cornish Folklore Film!
“Beware the Bucca…”
Hi, my name is Frank Adams, and I’m a filmmaker born and raised in Penzance, Cornwall.
I am inspired by the haunting beauty and rich folklore of my home, hence the creation of this short film.
I am the creator, director, and co-producer of The Bucca—a captivating short film blending Cornish mythology, suspense, and gripping storytelling.
With your help, I can bring this project to life and create a cinematic experience that will resonate at top film festivals worldwide.
What is The Bucca?
Drawing from an old Cornish legend, The Bucca tells the tale of a cursed prince turned sea creature, characterised by his conger eel skin, tail, and tangled seaweed hair.
Legend has it that fishermen used to leave a portion of their catch along the shores of Newlyn, Mousehole, and Lamorna, hoping that The Bucca would guide fish into their nets and crabs into their pots. The Bucca was also described as a vengeful being, known to conjure storms if disrespected.
