Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any donations that you so generously give.

For those of you who know our mom, Annette Burling, you know that she is a tough, spunky lady who loves her family unconditionally. She was a stay at home mom who would come to EVERY fieldtrip, who helped out at every school function and served every school lunch. She always made our house the 'safe house' for all of our friends to come over when they needed to talk or a place to stay, or just to feel welcomed. For our entire lives she made sure that we (my dad, my daughter, my sister and I) were all loved beyond measure. She has taken care of us, making sure we had everything we ever needed in life, now it is our time to take care of her.

6 months ago my mom started to lose the use of her legs. It started small with one leg and soon after traveled to the other leg, getting worse as it went. We went to doctor after doctor getting many 'possible' diagnoses, test after test, all coming up negative. After what seemed like a life time we now know what has taken over her body is ALS.

ALS has now taken the full use of her legs, most of the use of her arms and hands, some of her voice, the ability to stand or sit up on her own, and the ability to have any sort of normal in her life. It will only get worse from here.

Currently our mom is in the hospital.  She cannot come home until our house is “safe” and “accessible” for her to be in. This means that we need: to put in a wheel chair lift for our stairs, have everything made accessible to her, a hospital bed, possibly a bath or shower that is accessible in the upstairs of our home, ramps, a handicap accessible van, along with many other things. We will also need to be able to provide constant care for her when she is able to come home. Wether this means hiring in home staff or taking time off of work to care for her.

It is hard for us to ask for help but here we are. We would gladly accept donations of the items we are looking for or money to help us purchase them and pay for our moms care. We just want to be able to bring her home and give her the best life while she is still with us.

We are also asking that If you cannot donate, which is completely understandable, that you please share this campaign with your family, friends, or anyone who may be able to help.

Thank you for your generosity and well wishes.
