The Button family
Donation protected
The Button family is composed of Lindsay, Heather and their four adorable children; Briar (age 4), Noelle (age 2), and boy/girl twins Jamie and Taylor, who are one month old today.
Jamie and Taylor were born at 32 weeks and spent the first three weeks of their lives in the NICU at Grand River Hospital. Taylor came home from the hospital on September 18th, and Jamie joined her on September 20th. Over the weekend, things took a very dark turn and both babies are currently hospitalized. Please read the words below from both of their parents:
"To say the last few days have been a nightmare would be an understatement. After three weeks in the nicu, we were all finally home together for less than a week. On Saturday, Taylor went from being healthy to critically ill in a matter of hours. Heather pulled a marathon all nighter with her at Grand River, before being transferred to McMaster. It's been confirmed she has bacterial meningitis.
Yesterday they were able to extubate Taylor and establish a PICC line. She did well and they were able to transfer her back to Kitchener to the pediatric in-patient ward. We were so relieved to have her close to home again while she has her few weeks of medication.
Then, in a horrible turn of events, we felt like Jamie was off. We weren't sure if we were being paranoid but Lindsay brought him to the ER. They realized he was having periods where he wasn't breathing. He was intubated and shipped to McMaster in the early hours of this morning. Now as he lies in Taylor's old room, we wait for results to confirm he also has meningitis."
The family will once again be splitting their time between home and two hospitals. Heather and Lindsay deserve all of our support as they go through these deep waters. Donated funds will be used for gas, food, supplementing Lindsay's income while she takes an extended leave from her job, etc.
