On 5/28/2023 while sleeping over at a friends home in Cobb County my 15yr old son Charles Brown was shot in his face while he slept, this fatal wound lead to his death just hours later. While 1 arrest was made that individual has been released as the charges were dropped by the prosecutor(s) due to a "misunderstanding" within the local police force/detectives handling the case. There were multiple adult members of the family present during the time of the shooting that fled the scene and are not cooperating with law enforcement and have not been detained at all not even for obstruction of justice. We the family know and have evidence that this case was not given the proper attention it deserved and because of this a killer continues to walk free in our local community with no remorse. A portion of the funds raised will be used for my family to be able to continue to pay for our personal Criminal Investigator as well as our personal Forensic Investigator. The remaining will be used for a reward for information leading to the location and arrest of these individual(s) in this case. I ask that each and every one of you put yourself in my shoes as a parent and imagine your son going 3 miles away to spend the night with a friend, only to be shot to his death the following morning, imagine 3 adults (that were supposed to be like family) fleeing the scene and not assisting him at all, imagine depending on the justice system to be fair and to make your case a priority just to slowly watch as the case makes its way cold. Detectives on this case have met with my family ONCE since May. While I originally felt it was best to allow them the proper time to complete a in depth investigation I have come to the realization that they are doing the exact opposite. Please assist me with doing what I do best and that is being a Mother, a protector and a voice and visionary for my son.
