The Caicedo Orona Family

My name is Lisa and I am an English teacher in California. But before moving to the coast, I taught in Denver high schools for 21 years. During my tenure, I saw hundreds of students come and go. While I’ve lost contact with most, many still touch my heart.

The Caicedo family is one I have known for years. I taught three of their daughters and I am asking for your support. Their mom, Monica, is a triple breast cancer survivor, but the cancer has returned aggressively and is now in her bones. She recently had surgery to remove tumors from her spine and has since become dependent on a walker. The family of six is trying to balance work, school, and basic optimism in a stressful environment.
