The Cardiac Unit in Belfast Royal Victoria Hospital

Hello, my name is Conor and my brothers (Andrew & Matthew) and I are fundraising for the Cardiac Unit in the Belfast Royal Victoria Hospital. In 2022 our daddy, Stephen, suffered a major cardiac arrest which nearly took his life. He was fitted with an ICD and Pacemaker, so that if such events were to take place again he’d have a better chance at survival. Low and behold nearly 2 years later he suffered another major cardiac arrest, on the 4th of April 2024 his ICD kicked in 6 times from the house to the hospital and he had a further 6 heart attacks that weekend alone. We were called for on 3 separate occasions during a 4 week period for us to come to the hospital and to prepare for the worst. Fast forward 3 months, he fought for his life and with the absolutely fantastic work of the doctors and nurses in the Royal, they were able to get him well enough to get him across to Freemans Hospital in Newcastle to get an LVAD fitted, that he will now have for the rest of his life, a longer and hopefully happier life at that. The reason we are starting this fundraiser is because of the outstanding work from all the staff in the Cardiac Unit in the Royal, our daddy gets to see his sons grow older, our daddy will be able to see his sons get married (hopefully lol) and our daddy will hopefully be able to become a Granda but most importantly he will be able to continue to love us all unconditionally. If not for the amazing work the doctors and nurses done for him none of this would of been possible, now we want to repay the favour and help raise some funds for the unit that saved our daddy’s life.

In saying all of this, Myself and my brothers have decided to Run the Belfast half marathon in September with the support of our friends who have also decided to run it with us. Any donation would be fantastic!
