PDX Catalyst "We found a space" Fundraiser
Catalyst: A Sex Positive Place is now in storage. It’s not where we saw ourselves a year ago, but it’s where we are today. When you realize that Catalyst essentially started as a house party in the early 1990s, being put into storage is actually an impressive example of growth.
It’s not hyperbole to say that it wouldn’t have happened without “a little help from my friends,” as the Beatles once observed. Whether it was driving a truck, lifting something heavy, sweeping, organizing the storage space, donating money, or sending supportive messages, it all made a difference.
So, now I move to the final phase of tying up loose ends at the 5224 SE Foster address: paying the last of the utilities. Once that is complete, I can begin to search for a new physical location. Thanks to your generosity, I was able to pay the water bill and the Comcast internet bill. This makes me very happy. It also makes my creditors and my credit rating happy. Thank you.
Nonetheless, true to form, I am coming to you to beg for help once again.
In spite of the wonderful workforce that turned out during the past month, a great deal of my time and energy was focused on organizing and stressing about the closing and relocation. It cut into my editorial/writing gig work and I am not going to have enough money in April to pay my usual business bills, let alone the past due Catalyst bills.
If you can find it in your heart, wallet, bank account, inheritance, or lottery winnings, I would really appreciate some help. I don’t plan on this becoming the new normal, but I need help if I’m going to make it long enough to find another supplemental gig and ever catch up on these Catalyst specific bills. I want to re-open Catalyst some day and it will only be more difficult if I go bankrupt while extracting myself from its most recent manifestation. I apologize, but I’ve got my mind on money and money on my mind right now.
Here are the bills still due:
Portland General Electric: $953
NW Natural: $368
Portland Disposal: $240
You’ve been very kind and very generous to me for nearly a year. I hope you can afford to do it just a little bit longer.
In the meantime, please wear your mask and get your Fauci Ouchie as soon as you’re able! I want us all safe, healthy, and able to hug as soon as we’re able.
Love,
Theresa ‘Darklady’ Reed
