LIFE AFTER AVIAN FLU

**Hello to all our supporters, past and present and to those in Sussex, the UK and the world**

After the strain of the 2022 outbreak of avian flu, a lot has changed since within voluntary rescues here in sussex. this has resulted in fewer volunteers, closures of (gull) sites across the uk, and reductions to rescue services offered. starting from this summe

Our facebook group (below) is still in operation, (if you are having any difficulty, you may have to copy and paste link texts or refer to the e mail above)

https://www.facebook.com/groups/385523575455222/?ref=share_group_link however, events over the last two years have now resulted in the below.

the above mentioned facebook group run by us is now only covering east sussex. however the overwhelming amount of rescues has led to a series of issues so please see the below

From June 15th to September 1st, the above group will be unable to accept new members and will become a hidden group during this time. (if you are a member of this page you will not need to worry as you will still see it). For those already in this group a rescue number will be provided. in the interest of mental health and well being (not something that is highly regarded in this field) we are NOT taking in new members or rescues from other groups except for the above facebook group this summer. My own phone will be switched off during the summer, but routinely checked.

Another small site in east sussex has now shut their doors, (no official announcement has been made) leaving us with now only one active general wildlife site. this means a major overspill of casualties and too few people to help.

(Bird Aid, for gulls in Hailsham, East Sussex, will remain open, but will be limiting their numbers.

(in short only the lucky few will get rescued this summer)

As it seems, much of helping gulls is now down to too few volunteers, shortly i will be fundraising to build a amall aviary/outdoor holding site. it is desperately needed.

In Sussex and perhaps the UK, we really do have an urgent need for more physical help/drivers to pick up casualties. this is the only way to rescue more casualties. And so if you can help, it would be appreciated.
