The children up in the mountains of Colca, Peru

Hi! My name is Elise Boerjesson. I am an 8th grader at Carleton Washburne. Every year, my family and I travel 3400 meters up the Peruvian mountains and go to the village of Colca, Peru. Every Christmas, we go to deliver toys and most importantly school supplies for the children. The town is a small, underprivileged area in which most families live in dirt houses. When these kids are not in school most of the time they are helping their families by working in farms or taking care of the younger kids. The only break these kids get is when they are at school but even then, the children are not met with their needs. This is why we fundraise money every year to deliver school supplies and toys to ensure a proper education for the underprivileged kids. The funds that are collected 100% go towards the purchase of the supplies that will be given out. Even the smallest donation is appreciated by both myself and most importantly the Children of Colca, Peru.
