Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
~Amen~
Nicholas Paul Ciufo passed peacefully today (April 18th 2025) at 1pm. Yesterday I washed his feet. Today, on this Good Friday, Nick joined the God and angels and Saints in heaven. Our hearts are broken and emptied out but strangely I feel peace and calm that all will be OK. I want you all to know that even though we didn’t get the miracle we were praying for, there were miracles at work that kept presenting themselves all throughout our experience. The doctors and nurses at UC Davis were profoundly moved by Nick… There was something stirring in the air that caused a deep love and care for him. Many doctors said that being with him changed the way they will practice medicine. They said he deeply impacted their lives. The doctors cried, and the nurses cried, and the chaplain cried, and the palliative care team cried. The chaplain said that the entire hospital was mourning the loss of Nick. I know we will be bruised. I feel so honored to be his wife and to be holding his hand as he went to heaven. I immediately felt relief that he will not suffer any longer. I told one of the doctors that I was worried that all these people were praying for Nick and that God might lose a lot of people if he didn’t save Nick. The doctor said that the faith of others is not for me to carry on my shoulders, but to let God handle his plan. I want you all to know how deeply impacted we are by your prayers and your goodness and your kindness and now your deep sorrow that I know you are carrying with you because I feel it. I’m sorry this didn’t go the way we wanted it to go. But there is a resounding feeling that we will see Nick in due time and we will all be together, but in the meantime, we will honor him and we will love him and we will talk to him. I have asked him to bless us from heaven and to protect us to guide us. I know it’s all going to be OK. I feel it. And I know I’m going to cry more days than not for the long haul. But with deep love comes deep grief. God bless you all.

Nick and Kacey were deeply moved by the outpouring of love and support over the past year. While no amount of money can ease the pain we all feel, I believe we can come together—as a community touched by Nick's life—to support Kacey and the kids as they learn to navigate a world without him.

Hi, my name is Danielle Drier and I am asking for your support for my dear friends- the Ciufo Family. Kacey, Nick, Lola, Lou and Leo need our love, support and prayers during this very difficult time. Two weeks ago they were displaced from their home due to some serious mold issues.... all the while Nick had been battling what we thought was a very bad virus. Well yesterday morning (after many, many hours in the hospital, doctor visits, tests and visits with specialists) Kacey and Nick received the most heartbreaking news. Nick was diagnosed with lung cancer.

For those of you that know this family I know your heart hurts and for those of you that don't I want to share more about who Kacey and Nick are because they are the most loving, generous humans I've ever met. Kacey and Nick are always there for others. Always there for each-other. Always there. They are hard working, kind, generous and loyal. Kacey has been my best friend for 25 years and it's been 25 years of the greatest friendship I have ever known- I love Kacey and Nick dearly and I know many of you do as well.

While we do not yet know the path forward for Nick and Kacey we do know it's a hard one. Kacey and Nick need a space to be together as a family. They need a clean and healthy home so that they can care for Nick, continue homeschooling their kiddos and be together.

I am asking for your support so that we can help finish construction of a tiny home Nick was building on their property for the family to live in. In addition to funds to get the tiny home livable for the family I am asking for support to help ease any financial burden from treatments, medical bills, travel, living expenses, rental costs etc. Let's help take some of the financial stress away so that Kacey and the kids can focus on Nick and getting him healthy and home.

I thank you in advance for your kindness, generosity and prayers.
With love,
Danielle
